A HUGE thank you to both Sainsbury’s Worle in North Somerset and to our army of volunteers who turned out on Sunday 24th March to take part in a day of bag packing to raise money for clubs. We raised an astonishing £700.17 which put into context could pay breakfast club food for 60 children, or for sports coaches to run after school sports clubs for two terms!
We are delighted to have forged a new partnership with Sainsbury’s and thank them for their ongoing support. In January 2013, as part of XTND Wednesday parents coffee morning, held in partnership with Weston College, Sainsbury’s staff were invited in to talk to the group. They provided a healthy eating quiz, with prizes, at the meeting, held at Bournville Primary School in Selworthy Road.
Parents and grandparents who regularly attend the mornings were delighted and impressed by the good range of healthy foods, recipes and options available to them and were shown the savings that could be made by switching to a store’s own range. These regular sessions are hosted by Judy Holden, Bournville’s family liaison worker, in partnership with XTND and Weston College.
We are now looking for volunteers (parents, carers Y6’s from either Bournville or Windwhistle Primary Schools) to join us for our next bag pack on Sunday 23rd June for a couple of hours. Let’s see if we can top the amount raised last month. Transport may be available to Worle if needed.
