What a fabulous afternoon we have had at Toyota Weston with children from Bournville and Windwhistle. Paul Rengert and all the staff made us feel so welcome.
The children really enjoyed themselves, as did we. They asked great questions, sat in a brand new car – just off of the delivery lorry, made XTND number plates for each school, worked “under the bonnet” with a Toyota Technician, “ordered” some car parts and heard all about Toyota’s involvement and fundraising for Comic Relief.
As recipients of Comic Relief, we are delighted to have been able to share this great experience with Toyota staff.
We have been successful in a grant application to Awards for All England to set up a new, year-long Outdoor Learning project across Bournville and Windwhistle Primary Schools. Awards for All, part of the National Lottery Fund have awarded £10,000 to the charity who are now able to plan and implement the project which will give children and families the opportunity to experience the outdoors in an exciting and active way. We had an amazing day today for World Book Day. With the help of Weston & HLC Library Supervisor, Alison Earley-Wills and Jonathan Kerley and Charlotte Chambers from Waterstones Weston-s-Mare we were able to distribute over 1,000 books to the children of Bournville and Windwhistle Primary Schools.
Thank you so much to all the children who collected books on behalf of their school, to all the staff who helped, North Somerset Council Library Service and of course Waterstones of Weston who all helped to make World Book Day a great success.
