Helping support children, young people and families in Weston-super-Mare, North Somerset.
XTND began in 2006 and became a registered charity in May 2011. We work with statutory, voluntary and community sectors to broker imaginative solutions to the challenges faced by our families and now have a strong track record within South Ward and good established links within North Somerset.
We adopted the name XTND (Pronounced Extend) after much consultation with the children. The charity was established to carry on with the essential work which had been put in place from the Government funded Full Service Extended Schools programme.
Research has highlighted the benefits of the services that XTND offers and that they can make a “real difference” for poorer families, providing stability and helping to improve their life chances. This can also have a positive impact on the wider community and be a constructive alternative for children out of school. Research also suggests taking part in extra-curricular activities boosts results.
