We are delighted to announce that XTND have been commissioned to work with the Weston Super Mare Education Trust – This means that we will be working with the five schools that make up the Trust (Windwhistle, Bournville, Oldmixon, Walliscote and Milton Park) to develop projects and partnerships across the schools and the wider community. The Trust have also joined forces with partners throughout North Somerset including Bristol Water, Backwell School, North Somerset Council, Sidcot School and The Co-operative Schools Society.
Lynn Winter, the XTND Development Manager said:
“We are thrilled and excited at the prospect of working with the Weston Super Mare Education Trust and its partners. As XTND we have already made valuable contacts in the area and hope to build on the work already undertaken by the trust within the community”
The Weston Super Mare Education Trust is based in North Somerset where we are building a thriving community of primary schools and local businesses. Our collaborative and effective partnerships are strengthened by our commitment to constantly improve outcomes for all of our pupils and the wider community. Our aim is to not only enhance the lives of the children in this area through curriculum based activities but to open up opportunities that would not usually be available.
We have already been involved in a collaborative project with Avon Wildlife Trust and Bristol Water which involved the children rearing trout in tanks in the classroom and then releasing them into Blagdon Lake. The children from the Trust schools have been to a production of ‘Into The Woods’ at Sidcot School which was a huge success.
The extended XTND team are now busy planning a celebration event to be held in June at The Grand Pier where we will be celebrating the achievements of the Trust with all of our supporters, including the Mayor of Weston Super Mare.
